My heart goes out to all my Finance & FP&A peeps.
As a CFO, the early months of COVID were especially brutal for me. The surprising speed of the pandemic’s effects, and the sheer uncertainty of it all.
There were a ton of late nights and a ton of stress. There would be pessimism one day, optimism the next, and other days just fear.
I cut two full bottom-up budgets and multiple reforecasts in a 9 month period. We needed to iterate like crazy, adjust fast, and keep all eyes on our early indicators.
Having a solid handle on our early indicators - our sales pipeline - was super critical in giving us some comfort through it all.
I owe my sanity to that pipeline data!
And now it's like the same thing all over again.
And I feel for all of you going through that pain again right now.
